If you’re a big fan of Hippo Campus, Peter McPoland, or Cage the Elephant then you’ll love the original sound that Noah Sties has created in his debut album, SUNGOLD

A 19-year-old out of Goshen, Indiana is making his way into the indie scene with a concept he’s had saved for over 3 years, and will soon be available to fans everywhere on February 2.

Just like the original bedroom pop scene, he was very hands on and is responsible for 100% of the production.

Funny enough, 95% of the album was made in his car in random parking lots, an accidental reference to the indie rock band, Car Seat Headrest.

Sties felt that the album gave him a purpose and almost became his “significant other” throughout the creative process, and as a listener it is easily identifiable how much care that he put into crafting such a genuine sound.

Much of the album was inspired by artists like Hippo Campus, BAMBI, and Lizzy McAlpine with the voice notes that he has scattered in many of the tracks such as “SANDUSKY” and “SUNGOLD.”

The visual aspects behind the album are just as personal as the musical arrangement itself.

He knew the title would be SUNGOLD from the very beginning and knew that he wanted a film like appearance that ultimately created a very vintage, beach ambiance.

This feeling can also be perceived in the track “SANDUSKY” with a guitar riff that transports you to a beach paradise.

Although it is a very ecstatic album, there are also very mellow moments where Sties is able to ground you to a more authentic sound by sharing vulnerable experiences that others can understand.

The track, “DISCO” is one of my personal favorites as it talks about the frustrating sensation of figuring out who you are to a person, feeling comfortable yet confused, and ultimately choosing to be content with the constant questioning that seems to never end.

Although it is a very unsatisfying feeling, he creates a comforting sound for his listeners, almost as if providing support for those who may sympathize this feeling.

“I want people to feel spoken to, and for my music to translate into somebody else’s life,” said Sties as a response to how he would like people to associate themselves with his upcoming release.

Soon enough this album will be able to connect to people on a personal level, and everyone will get the chance to interpret Sties’ music as their own.

Some of the songs from the album are out now on all platforms such as Sties’ personal favorite, “BINGO.”

Save the date for the entire album release, February 2, because you don’t want to miss it!
